Information on Coronavirus (Covid-19)
The Parish Council has set-up Good Neighbour Groups to support people who are self-isolating due to coronavirus (COVID 19). Click on News & Info to read how the scheme works and who you should contact if you need help. You will also find other information about the outbreak under News & Info, including guidelines for volunteers, advice from the Police, latest information from the NHS and Government.
The picturesque village of Cornwood is situated just within the southern border of Dartmoor National Park. It has a population of just under 1000 people and has a strong community spirit. As well as the church there is a primary school, village shop, pub and village hall.
The village hall is situated next to the school and was built in 1914 but has recently been refurbished. It offers a flexible space for several different purposes. The neighbouring hamlet of Lutton is smaller than Cornwood but has no less a feeling of community spirit. Cornwood and Lutton have a thriving Cricket Club with a substantial Club Pavillion at their ground at Oak Park in between the two villages.
There are regular buses to Plymouth and a community ring and ride service to the nearby town of Ivybridge. Ivybridge has health centres, dentists, a theatre, a leisure centre and several local independent shops. It is just off the A38 Devon Expressway and has a railway station on the line from Exeter to Plymouth.
